East Brainerd is actually the most populated area in Chattanooga, and it's a strongly family-oriented neighborhood. It also happens to have my absolute favorite ice cream shop: Bruster’s. My kids grew up on that free baby cone for anybody under 40 inches tall, and I probably enjoyed those trips as much as they did. I love my ice cream, and Bruster's has always been my spot.  

There is truly an even mix of young families, folks in their peak career years, and a good number of retirees too, so whatever season of life you're in, you'll find your people here. What draws everyone here is convenience: it's close to Hamilton Place Mall and downtown Chattanooga, but still feels like a real neighborhood rather than a commercial strip. Gunbarrel Road has become a little hub of its own with coffee shops, boutiques, restaurants, fitness studios, and there are a few golf-course neighborhoods in the mix for recreation.
